Before I forget......

I wanted to do a quick post about a tradition that began in the Lemmon household a few years ago.....
All week, I have tried and tried to gather time to sit down and write this---- and today it finally happened!
It is quiet as a church mouse here at work, seeing as it is the Eve of Christmas Eve....so I have some time to put my thoughts together.

Anyway, the tradition..................

A few years back, my mom, dad, sister and I went over to St. Charles (the old part with the brick roads) during the month of December and during this time they have whats called Christmas Traditions.  You walk around to the different shops and boutiques while characters from "Christmas past" are also strolling around singing Christmas carols and handing out "Merry Christmas" to everyone!  The trees along the brick paved road are twinkling with Christmas lights, while you hear "Silent Night" softly being sung by a group of carolers a couple blocks away.   It really gets you in the Christmas spirit!

Here are a couple pictures to give you an idea...

Carolers gathered....

Last year we were not able to go because a HUGE snow storm hit the STL area the weekend that we were planning on going, but this year it was perfect!   My mom, dad, sister, Jerad and I all packed in the car and headed up to historic St. Charles for some Christmas cheer last Friday night!
My sister and my favorite part of the whole evening is the roasted chestnuts.  Jerad had never had one before, so we were anxious for him to try one.   They literally have an open fire with a pan on it that has chestnuts roasting on it for you to eat!   (very cool!)   When we walked up, my sister and I got so excited that we started RUNNING up to the fire.  Yes...... 26 and 21 and we were running like we were 4 years old.   But that's beside the point.....  :)
All bundled up in coats and gloves we walked around....now a family of 5 (smile) and it was such a great evening.   We went to Little Hills Winery at the end of the night (still in historic St. Charles)  and sat by a campfire and had a glass of wine together/
I was so glad to finally make Jerad part of this tradition that my family LOVES to do together, and it certainly put us all in the Christmas spirit!
On the eve of Christmas Eve, I wish you all a wonderful holiday with your family and loved ones.  This is a wonderful time of year to be thankful for the many things we have in this world.  All the way down to just a warm shower in the morning.   Sooooo much to be grateful for!    Merry Christmas!!!

God, I am so thankful to be spending this wonderful holiday season surrounded by amazing people that have impacted my life to the "n'th" degree.   This past year has been full of so many blessings......travel, engagement, move to Southern Illinois, a beautiful wedding, wonderful family and friends to celebrate each and every perfect or imperfect moment with.         God, thank you.       Thank you for loving me this much.  For giving me a family that would bend over backwards 17 times just so that our wedding was perfect.  For giving me a husband that makes me feel like I am the most important person in the world, and allows me to KNOW the feeling of love and loves me for everything I am- no matter what.  For giving me my hilarious friends that celebrated all the way through the wedding planning and every moment in between with me, just like it was their own wedding.  Aside from the wedding........ thank you.  For everything I have, everything I am, and all the opportunity you have given me to shine to my fullest.    I am forever grateful, and I ask for your guidance to continue to be grateful even for the littlest things.    Amen.
